Peter Baynton directs short films as an independent film maker, and has won ten international awards. He is represented as a director of TV commercials by Tandem Films, the Oscar winning production company based in London. He also directs and produces corporate, promotional and training videos. In particular, his work with The Security Company Ltd has won a 2010 British Association of Communicators in Business award. Here’s his latest director’s showreel…

Commissioned by the UK Film Council, Channel 4 and East Midlands Media. This 13 minute short film tells the story of Dennis, an honest pig farmer, who’s being swindled by the local supermarket manager and is struggling to survive. It features the voice of Warren Clarke as Dennis, and Simon Callow as his nemesis The Swinesbury’s Boss. It is currently touring round the international film festival circuit before being broadcast on C4 next year.

Commissioned by the UK Film and East Midlands Media. This 7 minute short film tells the tale of three grannies whiling away the years in their nursing home. Life is rosy until quite by chance they happen upon a sinister secret lurking behind the flock wallpaper. Before they know it they’re thrown into a game of cat and mouse with the nursing staff. Over The Hill won six awards on the festival circuit, and is currently being developed into a TV series format.

In an award winning partnership with The Security Company International Ltd, Peter produces and directs workplace security awareness videos, for clients including such prestigious names as the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Royal Mail Group, the Learning and Skills Council and Unilever. He has made eight videos so far, as well producing comic strips, banners and other print materials.
Peter worked closely with The Security Company to find a visual language and a new character to best communicate the complexities of corporate security. With each project they find a humorous narrative that communicates a serious message as memorably as possible. Created and produced by Ruth Beni of Animage, this is a groundbreaking film which aims to warn young women of the dangers of being sex trafficked. Originally voiced by Juliet Stevenson, it is now being translated into several languages for distribution throughout Eastern Europe. Made in consultation with five Albanian women who were trafficked into the UK, it follows the stories of two young women who are cruelly deceived by loved ones and are trafficked into prostitution against their will.
